Good Evening Mrs. Castle aka Rah,
I still think it is weird that when I get say your full name, I STILL call you Sarah Lynn Michaels. TWICE on Thanksgiving alone. It's like when you shock me, I am still back when you were a Miss instead of a Mrs. I wonder when I will get used to that??? I got your Christmas card in the mail. The wedding photo is beautiful and I loved the card. It is your FIRST Mr. and Mrs. photo. I already hung it up on the wall . . . another one of my Christmas traditions. Did you know that I also save the ones from last year in my Christmas things? Then when I open the totes, there is a bit of Christmas past that I look through to see what has happened throughout the year.
I am aware that I am definitely on the NAUGHTY list tonight as I got a tiny bit of a verbal tongue lashing for not coming to visit you at JL Beers today. OOPS! Today was spent shopping with some old friends and ones that are now new ones. I love adding new people to the fold as it is totally awesome to get to know new people. It was Karin's sister Leah's birthday weekend. Leah brought a friend of hers with, her name is Alisa. Leah invited us with her to the Crystal Gayle concert last night in Mahnomen as she had a couple extra tickets. You probably do not know who Crystal Gayle even is, and quite honestly, the old folks loved the concert . . . we enjoyed being out with friends old and new. We were also given a couple of free rooms so opted to stay and then to bop to Fargo for a bit of birthday/Christmas shopping.
I kind of blame you for the fact that we did not come to JL Beers, after all, you DID introduce us to Wurst Bier Hall! Holy moly is the food there AWESOME and the atmosphere is FUN! Neither Leah or Alisa had ever been there. Needless to say, our table was filled with appetizers and a bunch of schnitzels that left us happy and quite full. Then it was off to shop!
Good land for the people in Fargo today!!!!! You know how I get when there are crowds and crowds and crowds and crowds of people. We started out at Hobby Lobby! I LOVE Hobby Lobby! I got stuck in the wrapping paper, bows, and things to make packages beautiful. Found a couple of cute ornaments and plopped them in the cart too. I looked at snowflake ornaments and thought of Sharon Davidson. Dang I really miss her sometimes. Every time I see a snowflake, I think of her. On Thanksgiving it snowed a gentle snow much like the night that she passed from this world into the next. Somehow I think it was a reminder that she is still blanketing folks she cared about with loads of love. She was a very special friend to me and I miss her . . . sigh . . .
Because it is soon Leah's birthday, we headed to Gigi's for CUPCAKES! We picked out eight of the little lovelies. They were every flavor and we looked forward to some coffee a tish later with a birthday sweet treat.
After Gigi's, Kohls! The people were everywhere! You could hardly move and I tried not to feel claustrophobic. I picked up a couple of things and then wanted to get out!!!!
When the girls headed to Target, I took a grown up time out! The parking was atrocious. The people were everywhere, and I just needed a break. This IS why I opt to hit the SEND button and do my shopping that way as I was completely overwhelmed. And although I was having a lot of fun with tons of laughs, the crowds were wearing on me!
Last stop the mall. There wasn't really anything that I wanted or needed, but thought I might bop to VS to check out the bargain of the day;) Then I thought Bath and Body Works . . . NOT! The lines, oh my GOSH, the lines were AWFUL!!!!! I left my bag filled with stuff and just walked out the door. Iced coffee was calling my name, and there is a little cozy spot at the end of the mall that is kind of quiet. It was there that I saw the sweetest thing that I have seen in a long time. I was sipping on my coffee savoring the peppermint mocha iced yumminess. Christmas in a cup . . . mmmmmmmmmm! Then I saw it. The Salvation Army was ringing their bells. There was a little boy, maybe 7 or 8. He had a little black wallet that he pulled out of his pocket. He pulled a dollar bill out of the wallet and ran over to the bell ringers. The woman ringing the bell smiled a HUGE smile and thanked the young man. He raced over to his dad who fist pumped him and the pair trotted off. That one little boy made my day! I am guessing that he did not have a lot of money in his little wallet. I am also guessing that he could have thought of any number of other things that he COULD have spent his money on. BUT he gave what he had for the good of others . . . the whole thing made me warm all over. That Rah IS Christmas hope.
The final stop was for coffee. You should have seen the cupcake box filled with sweet treats. It was like the cupcake monsters ravished them and the sight was hilarious. There might have even been a little moaning. Hahah. I think that there was at lunch too!! Forget that, I know that there was!!!!
Rah Rah, I am sorry that I didn't get to spend any time with you. I promise I will make it up to you. Know that I love you tons and tons, and that I appreciate that you aren't TOO mad at me.
Mommoms
P.S. Guess what came in the mail today!!!

Dear Ma,
I would've bet ALL my dollars that you guys were all going to come eat at JL Beers today while I was working. Good thing I didn't bet all my dollars or I would be totally broke. You know why? Because you didn't come!! =( Sad Sarah. I will get over it though. We were pretty busy all day. It was still packed when I left at 4PM. The Bison were playing so I imagine that was why. We had to keep three of us on all afternoon. That hasn't ever happened before in the 6 months I've been there. Normally we cut down to at least two of us for the afternoon and usually we make it down to just one person. Oh well. PS - Bison won in case you were wondering.
I'm glad you and your friends had fun today. Wurst is pretty delicious! I'm obsessed with their pretzel sticks with beer cheese dip and their sweet potato fries with marshmallow fluff. Yummmm! Other than those two things, there isn't a whole lot I can eat there. Can't forget the beer though, they always have a good selection of beer. That really is the most important thing anyway. Did you guys share a boot today? The only boot I've ever had is the one time we all went there. It's a lot of beer! I must have another boot sometime soon though. Not by myself of course. Or maybe by myself? No, not by myself.
And the lines were long at Bath and Body Works because their 3-wick candles are $8.50 today! I thought about going there after work to pick out a couple but I knew that it would be chaotic. FYI - The candles just went to $8.50 online too until 6AM. Perhaps you should order the things that you had in your basket? After all, you are an expert online shopper.
Your story about the little boy donating his dollar is super cute! I always like watching the little kids put money in the bucket. They get so excited! I made a promise to myself around a month ago or so that every time I passed a Salvation Army volunteer ringing the bell for donations, that I would donate a little something each time. Even if it's only a dollar or two. Being a "beertender" means that I usually have some cash floating around my purse. So far, I have kept my promise!
Guess what I watched for a while this evening after work? Gymnastics! It totally makes my day when college gymnastics is on TV. I could watch it for hours and hours! I usually have to search for it though because it's always on random channels. Tonight there was one girl who got a perfect score on the bars. I think the announcers said it was her first bar routine after being out for most of the season due to an ankle injury. And it was the first perfect score on bars that their college has ever had. Impressive! Unfortunately, I fell asleep during the last half hour of the meet so I don't know who won. I MUST be exhausted if I fell asleep during gymnastics. That never happens!
Have you been paying attention to the Gophers volleyball team this season? I've been keeping up with them ever since Coach Lisa's daughter Erica started playing a couple years ago. They are dominating this season!! They were ranked #1 in the nation going into the Big Ten and they ended up taking the title. Tonight they had their second round of the NCAA tournament and they won in 3. I was really hoping the game was going to be televised but it wasn't. How on earth is that not television worthy!?!? Fingers crossed that the next game will be broadcasted.
Well Madre, I think I should probably get some sleep. I closed last night at JL, opened this morning, and I open again tomorrow morning. I am SO tired. Really looking forward to my Monday and Tuesday off right about now! Homework and my recliner has never sounded so good. Seriously, never. Hope preaching goes well for you tomorrow morning.
Love you lots, even though you didn't visit me today. You get a pass this time because I know you have my Christmas panties.
Rah
