I planned on writing all about the Racing Extinction documentary today but it just doesn't feel right. The film is not fresh in my mind like it was yesterday, but yesterday wasn't really the day to write about it either. When the timing is right, I will offer my 2 cents about the film. If anyone was looking forward to hearing what I have to say about the documentary, I encourage you to watch it for yourself if you are able to.
Last night I wasn't feeling real great when I went to bed and I woke up around 5AM with a slight migraine. After around 20 minutes of searching, I found some Aleve, grabbed an ice pack and tried to go back to sleep. When my alarm when off for 8:30AM CrossFit, I opted to pass on the workout today because my head still hurt so bad. A few hours later, the migraine started to subside so I crawled out of bed and began my day.
I've been trying really hard the last few days to keep the apartment picked up so after I was all showered this morning, I made my rounds and picked up the things that were out of place and mopped the floors. It does make me feel quite a bit better when I have everything clean! After that I made myself a pot of coffee, lit the candles and had my "quiet time" for a half an hour while Jesse was working out.
Now I'm sitting here in my recliner next to the Christmas tree with the candles lit, the fireplace turned on and Instrumental Christmas Pandora playing in my headphones. The construction workers are finishing up the roof on the apartment right next to ours and they have a machine thing that has been beeping literally all day. It's so loud and obnoxious and it does not stop!! Have you ever heard of Chinese Water Torture? Where water is slowly dripped onto a restrained persons forehead and after so long it will drive the person insane? Yeah, same thing. The beeping is driving me MAD! Luckily, Instrumental Christmas Pandora is slowing bringing my sanity back.
Speaking of Christmas music, have you heard of Pentatonix? They're an a cappella group and they are so amazing. They won that show Sing Off too. A couple years ago Kathy sent me their video of Little Drummer Boy and it is so good!! I still listen to it ALL the time. If you go to their Youtube page, you can see all the songs they have done. Everything they sing gives me goosebumps. Their version of Mary Did You Know is amazing too. Same with their video Evolution of Beyonce! Oof, I could listen to their music all day. I keep checking their tour dates to see if they're coming to North Dakota or Minnesota but so far they do not. It's so unfortunate. You MUST listen to them.
Also, this is random but do you remember those Postsecret books that Jordan and I used to read, where people mail in their secrets anonymously on a post card? I think he and I have the first and second books from 2005 and 2007 somewhere at home, but I still like to go online and look at the latest post cards that people have sent in. Sometimes the authors share them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and every Sunday the website is updated with the newest secrets. Some of the secrets are funny and some are really, really sad. But regardless, I enjoy reading them. Today, I got sucked into the Postsecrets on Instagram for a little while. Kind of like that one day that we got sucked into the funny Vine videos. They're both mindless activities, and I like that.
There's another book out now that is along the same line as post secrets but it has more depth. It's called Humans of New York and it's written by a photographer who attempts to capture New Yorkers and their stories. I'm definitely going to purchase the book at some point. Humans of New York has a Facebook page too and I am very easily sucked into those as well. They are so interesting! Again, sometimes they are comical, sometimes sad, and sometimes just really informative.
Now I must go finish a couple of assignments. Love you!
Sarah

Dear Rah Rah,
My FINALS are done yay me yay me!!!! I had a good chunk of my grading done and already submitted many of my grades. YAYYYYYY ME!!!! Some of my students are going to be ecstatic, and others, well, not so much. This has been a really tough semester with a lot of peripheral stuff that threatened to drown us in a sea of CRUD; however, many of us are pretty tough. Despite the odds, I think that we have officially survived, and when students head off to break, the work really begins. I WILL spend a lot of time in the chair, wrapped in a blanket, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, as I bust out policies, procedures, and create some pretty new forms so everything is up to date! It will be a ton of work, but so worth it in the end! BTW, this kind of writing kills my creative brain!
I loved the secret books. Do you remember the day we bought them? I believe that we were in the cities for something when one of the little lovelies captured us. I think it is cool that there is a creative space that allows people to confess their innermost thoughts as I believe that can be very liberating. Sometimes I think that folks get so caught up in guilt or things that they have done wrong that it clouds all of the amazing things that they do right. Carrying around all of that baggage can weigh a person down. I remember sitting and reading those books with you. I loved the pages, the writing, the funny things, and those that took your breath away because the images were so painful.
You come by some of your quirky things pretty naturally I am afraid. I believe I mentioned earlier to you that nuts do NOT fall far from the trees. I did not know that there were online posts for the things that you mentioned, but I am pretty sure I will find them and add them to my repertoire of things I MUST check out!
I think it is funny how you request things from me. I sent Auntie strawberries because she LOVES them and this is an awful time of the year for her. Simply put, she NEEDS them. Shari's Berries was a place that I heard about on, wait for it, BOBBY BONES (And yes, I listen ALL of the time whether I am working or not)! If you type BONES into the radio button on the top right, you get an extra 6, luscious berries FREE! Although, I am not totally sure they are actually free. Auntie posted that she got her fruit fix from me, and low and behold, I get a message from you that says, "I don't think I have been getting my fruits in." At first, I didn't get it and I was a little confused. Then it hit me . . . Shari's Berries! You crack me up kiddo . . . definitely not subtle:)
I had supper tonight with Mawalyn and Mark. I used to love how you said her name . . . it was so CUTE!!! Unfortunately, we do not get together all that often as schedules create havoc on life, but when we do it is always nice to catch up. It his her birthday this week and I am just trying to connect in some places before the holidays are upon us. Next one I need to get to is my friend Mary as I am missing her tons! I am putting that on my next week list for a much needed therapy session.
Well toots, I am totally tired! I love you tons:)
Mom
